The Property Listing office is responsible for preparing and maintaining accurate ownership and description information for all parcels located in Dodge County. These parcels are an amalgamation of information obtained from the County Register of Deeds and Survey offices, along with several other resources, such as Department of Natural Resources (MFL Land), Department of Revenue (Manufacturing), Department of Administration (Annexations), Department of Transportation (Road Right-of-Way), Department of Public Instruction (School District Boundaries), and Department of Financial Institutions (Business Names/Ownership). The parcel record data is consumed by County offices as well as state and local government, assessors, title companies, realtors, surveyors, clerks, landowners, taxpayers, and many more.
The Property Listing office is also responsible for updating and maintaining all layers comprising the tax parcel map. The tax parcel map is a visualization of the tax parcels and is updated daily to reflect changes in parcel geometry.
Additional duties of the property listing office:
- Annexation review prior to approval by Department of Administration. This information is sent to State Elections and the Census Bureau.
- Daily recording review. Analyze accuracy of legal descriptions and names. Provide feedback when “errors” are found.
- Survey review. This property listing office is part of the certified survey map (CSM) and plat review team for the County.
- Assist in maintenance of Address Management System.
- Assist with development and maintenance of countywide geographical information system (GIS).
- Provide data to Department of Revenue and other state and local offices
These responsibilities are carried out in cooperation with the individual assessors of each of the twenty-three (23) towns, eleven (11) villages, and nine (9) cities.
